We hold an annual island-wide conference to enhance our standard of teaching and research. We also offer professional advancement by inviting outstanding scholars in the field of English teaching.
We have an excellent teaching faculty and offer extension programs at community colleges in Guei-shan Village, Ying-ge Township, and Taoyuan County as well.
Our graduates have acquired good reputation in the job market for their fine training and professional English ability.
Our students participate in English teaching practice in cooperation with Guei-shan elementary school, Zhung-hu elementary school, and Yu-cheng senior high school. Gradually, our department will offer more similar services to other schools in the community.
Our department is now in the process of working out a cooperative program with universities in other countries to offer our students more opportunities to go abroad for summer courses and short-term exchange programs. This will provide them a chance to be in an English-speaking environment, to learn more about the language, to engage in more participation in their English learning process, and to broaden their cross-cultural experiences.
Our department has many high-tech facilities, including a multifunctional language lab, VOD lab and audio-visual lab for practices of listening, speaking and reading. The CAI software provides students with materials for practice of reading, writing, and translation. We also have more than 1000 professional ESL books, more than 200 English teaching video tapes, and English teaching cassettes to train students' listening abilities.
Our Interpretation lab is well-equipped with computers and projectors, and provides students with the best equipment for audio and visual recording for interpretations and oral presentations.
The American cultural classroom is decorated according to different topics to provide the students with an American cultural background and enrich their language learning experience.
